Why can't I go back to sleep?

Unread postby desry » Tue Jun 23, 2015 3:51 am

Hi! I am a person who goes to bed by 10 pm because I am too sleepy by that time. The problem is, when I wake up to use the loo, I cannot go back to sleep that easy. Sometimes, it would take two hours before I can sleep again. What I did lately is to get up from bed and do some paper work to pass the time. I get sleepy at 9am so I go back to bed to sleep for an hour. This has been going on for a month now. I got headaches and my eyes hurt. I know this is unhealthy but I don't know what to do? Can you give advice please! :S

Hi, can this be related to stress or lack of satisfaction of what you are doing?
What are Your working habbits? It can be usefull to do some calm activity before sleep (not near any electronic devices)
Headache and eyes hurt.. are You working with computer? What about trying to give your yeas a break more frequently or do some joga for eyes (artofliving.org/yoga/health-and-wellness/yoga-eyes)?
Finally i think it is beneficial to eat less baken food, less meat, less milk based foods.
Have lighter diner maximum 1,5h. before sleep

Regarding main question "Why can't I go back to sleep", it feels like an nervous issue and feeling stress, like you are telling yourself (subconsciously) that i did not do as much as i should or i have alot of work, or im missing something and i need to do something.. it can be subconscious feeling, so one should focus on what she/he is inputting in her/his subconscious mind.

I work at home as a writer. I spend 8 to 10 hours a day working on the computer. I took breaks so I can stretch my back and rest my eyes. I drink hot milk before going to bed as I was advised that it will help me to sleep. Can this be the culprit for my sleeping problem? How many hours before bedtime should I refrain from using any electronics?

I read that it is advised to be at least 20 minutes break where you calm down your mind and body.

I also read that drinking milk can help fall asleep, but in general in health related articles it is not advised to eat before sleep. But if one do not feel bad and it helps to fall asleep :coffee
