Frantic Dream Where I Can't Wake Up...

Unread postby HealthForum » Sat Mar 26, 2011 7:34 pm

I have been having this recurring dream now over the past few months. I don't think it's a nightmare but my heart is usually excited and I feel stressed whenever I finally get myself to awaken. The dream has almost always taken place with me in my bed waking up but I am still in the dream. Everything feels so real. Usually I will notice that everything in the room is normal and I act normal at first. It's the strangest feeling but I try to get up normally and I just won't move. I begin to panic because I cannot get myself up. I frantically try to get up over and over to wake up and it just won't happen. Around this time I will actually become aware that I am dreaming and this causes me to try even harder to awaken. What's even more odd is that I am not completely paralyzed in this dream. At times I will actually feel like I get up to a point (because I am trying so hard to wake up) where I am sitting up on the bed but I will immediately snap back to the position of me back asleep in that dreaded position. There have been a few times where I actually try so hard to get up that I finally get my upper body to sit up and I keep going and fall forward only to immediately end up back on my bed to try again. When I do eventually wake up, my neck hurts because it is my head that I try so hard to lift when this all takes place. I seem to have a mixture of sleep paralysis in my dream while knowing that I am dreaming. So it is also like a Lucid dream. I've looked around and I haven't read anything that is quite the same as my experience so hopefully someone can shed some light here.

Some TIPs, i have just found. I quote:

If it happens to you again, try to focus on moving your big toe. If you can manage to move even the tiniest body part, that should snap you back to full consciousness. Or better yet, google it. There is plenty of material about sleep paralysis on the web. Here you go ... http://www.google.com/search

I used to have dreams exactly like that and as I got older they started to get worse. One night I didn't think I was going to even wake up so I decided to seek some help. I called my old healer who had moved to texas to see if she could refer me to someone who could help with this problem. When I called her she just happened to be in town for a day and fit me in to go and see her. When I got there before I could even tell her what was happening she asked about my dreams. I told her exactly what was occurring. She explained to me that I had never in my life truly know what it is to feel safe and that I was opening myself to other dimensions and I was afraid. So what she did was teach my cells what it felt like to be safe. We sat and meditated together and I have not had a dream like that since and that was about two years ago. I would have these dreams almost every night! One thing she did tell me that I will never forget was that our hearts can be broken but no one can ever harm our souls...

There are no such type of medicine or treatment to avoid dreams or nightmares by changing some of your routine activity and habits you can avoid this kind of sleeping disorder. Set regular bed time, wake up same time every day, do not think about dreams or nightmares, do exercises regularly, Be smart about napping.

It seems like a nightmare. You can consult with a dream analyst.

Check for yourself that you sleep on a good position or your bed is comfortable enough. We usually get dreams at the REM phase so you might also consult with a sleep expert. By monitoring your sleep he may suggest you with some good solutions, they might be medicines or some sleep hygiene.
