Can IVF Offer A Solution to Womb Scarring

Unread postby Arose » Thu Aug 03, 2017 1:50 pm

Hello Everyone
I am 36 years old married with no child. I am seriously considering IVF. However, I would like to hear what experienced members have to say about the procedure before I make up my mind. I got married in 2010, but I have not been lucky to give birth to a child. My trouble started in in 2008 when I was still dating my current husband. He impregnated me immediately after college, and we were all happy and looked forward to giving birth to a bouncing baby. However, things took another turn as I was to learn from my doctor that I had an ectopic pregnancy. The doctor told me that the egg had implanted itself in my abdomen and informed me that the pregnancy was dangerous and needed to be terminated.
I chose to have it terminated. He seconded me to an expert who terminated it through surgery. Since then, I have not been able to conceive despite trying and working hard to conceive. The last doctor I visited told me that my womb was scarred and so I had little chance of conceiving. I would appreciate contributions on how I could be helped.

Hello, I feel for you. I know, it must have been a tough journey for you. I haven't had a similar experience, but I have seen many women struggling with infertility or those who had been trying hard to conceive for a long time being able to conceive through IVF. Your case does look quite different. But I don't want you to lose hope. If you're looking for IVF, maybe you should really see a specialist and see what they think of your condition. You might need a few checkups, before you could decide on whether IVF can be the right choice for you. I hope you find the right consultant and the right advice. Wish you all the best, stay strong.

Thank you so much for the quick advice. I have talked to many people most of who advised me to consider IVF. One of my friends referred me to a clinic called biotexcom, He told me that I could be helped by having my egg removed and fertilized by my husband’s sperms before it is placed in the womb of volunteer mothers. I learned that at the clinic, I would have the freedom to choose the mother of my baby. However, I was of the opinion that I carry the baby myself. This is why I open up this discussion to both experts and mothers who have benefited from IVF services. Help me find answers to the following questions
1. Is it possible for the egg to be extracted and fertilized and placed in my womb?
2. Given my current status where my womb has been tested and found to have been scarred, is it possible for the egg to be implanted and allow the baby to grow till it is delivered?
3. Will I be required to undergo any form of treatment including surgery before the egg is implanted?

hello there, I think the answers to your questions is in your post itself. It is possible to extract the egg and fertilize it and then place it in your womb. That is what IVF is all about. And when the egg is fertilized it is an embryo.

yes, that's right krisann. Also, what your friend advised you is referring to surrogacy and not IVF. The two are different and are performed depending on whether you are able to carry a child. If it is proved that you are able to carry your own child, then you can opt for IVF. If it is not possible for you to carry your own child, in that case, you may opt for surrogacy.
