Prostate cancer is a disease in which cells in the prostate gland become unnatural and begin to grow uncontrollably, forming tumors. It is responsible for helping control urination as well as forming part of the semen. It is located at the base of the urinary bladder. Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in men. It initially remains confined to the prostate gland, where it may not cause serious harm and it usually grows slowly.

There are several types of cells in the prostate, but nearly all prostate cancers start in the gland cells. This kind of cancer is known as adenocarcinoma. Some prostate cancers can grow and spread quickly, but most of the time, prostate cancer grows slowly.
