Early Menopause - POF
Posted: Sat Mar 26, 2011 8:24 pmHi. I am 32. Yesterday I was diagnosed with Early Menopause due to natural causes or Premature Ovarian Failure. My periods have been irregular for the past 3-4 years, with my last full period being 5 months ago ( in Feb) and prior to that 7 months. My FSH levels are at 75. I have NO symptoms, no hot flushes, no night sweats - I am stressed, irritable and highly over emotional, but other than that I have no other symptoms - The only reason I went to have my irregular periods checked was my partner and I were considering having a baby!
To say I am shocked and overwhelmed would be an understatement! My specialist prescribed me HRT and suggested I commence it immediately and here lay my dilemma - I am sure you are not supposed to start HRT until a year after your final period, and I al also worried about the long term effects...I guess I am wanting to know if there is anybody else out there my age going thru the same thing or who has gone thru this already and what they did? Did you take HRT? How long for? Did you go natural? What has been your outcome? Did you wait till you went a full year without a period or did you start as soon as it was recommended? Did you fall pregnant whilst on HRT? Any help, guidance support would be appreciated as I am so new to this and really confused!!
