I was wondering how many of you deal with ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), without taking pills. Honestly I am reluctant to take any kind of medication, because I am afraid it will affect my intelligence. I was blessed enough to have a genius IQ, and I have heard that taking medication for ADD will force me to not think outside the box so much, and be able to focus.

Thats great and all, but I love being able to think outside the box, I love being objective about everything, and I love being able to understand the "big picture" at all times (it bothers me when I don't). I have heard that some cases of ADD is misdiagnosed for abnormal intelligence, is that true?

So I guess my question is, how do I work with my inability to focus, instead of just taking pills?

i've been reading a lot on ADD and alternative medicine and it says that omega 3 fish oil supplement can help alleviate symptoms. my cousin has ADD and my aunt asked me to research on this so that was what i did. from what i've heard it usually takes a couple of weeks for the fish oil to kick in. plus, omega 3 has so many health benefits like it being cardioprotective. i might take some myself i have a heart condition, hypertension, and chronic dry eyes.

There's nothing wrong with Omega 3, but I'd always suggest consulting your doctor and being up-front about what you're currently dealing with.

Attention deficit disorder mainly happens because of lack of sleep. Various sleep disorders have been closely related with ADD. However, to treat ADD without pills is possible but it requires a lot of patience, regular exercise and sleep discipline.
I would suggest you to go for an holistic approach for treating ADD is through herbal treatment and therapy rather than pills.

Consume your coffee. Coffee is a natural switch and may be relaxing and relaxing for individuals with ADD. Prevent caffeinated beverages solutions that contain a lot of sugar or sugar replacements. Dark coffee or tea are good solutions, as are over-the-counter caffeinated beverages tablets.
