i had three replacement fillings done, each time my mouth was open for several hours. This went on for three Friday's in a row. Afterwards I developed pain in my mouth when I bite into anytime of food, even chicken salad. I went back and forth to the dentist and they filed my teeth down a bit more, put me on an antibiotic in case I had an infection and threw his hands up after that. the symptoms kept getting worse so I went back to my primary care dr and was told I had a double ear infection and a sinus infection. AFter three weeks of meds the pain in my ear is still there. I was referred to an ent and have been treated with physical therapy, meds and heat compresses. I'm working if in fact something else could have happened and what I can do about what happened. does this sound right?

I'm not sure if something else could have happened or not. That's probably best left for a doctor to decide. I can tell you, though, that I had an experience similar to yours when I got a filling done. I experienced pain near the tooth that had just gotten the filling. My dentist checked to make sure my tooth was filed down properly and it was. He also didn't believe that I had an infection, but he prescribed me antibiotics just in case. I went home and after a few days of experiencing more pain, I went back to the dentist. Once again, he couldn't find anything wrong. I went home and a few days later the pain was gone. I almost wonder if it's possible for a tooth to be sore just from being worked on, but then again I would think a dentist would know that. The unfortunate part for me was that I didn't have dental insurance at the time. Because of the pain I experienced, I ended paying a lot more than I had expected. I hope you have found an answer to your problem!

Getting a dental infection after a tooth filing is done is common that's why some dentist often recommends some antibiotics to drink after the treatment.

Totally agree with the fact that after dental work, it may happen that you suffer from several dental problems like pain and infection. In such situation, you should consult your dentist as soon as possible.
