I have been seeing a Gyno for the last 10 months or so and he finally wished me the best of luck a few weeks ago! Guess that means he's done treating me! We thought I was dealing with a yeast infection all this time! He would examine me and not even put it under the scope! He said he could see the granular appearance and it was telltale yeast. I decided to make an appointment for an infectious disease specialist which I went to Wednesday. Upon visual examination she even said it looked a lot like yeast. She did a vaginal flush to collect a sample and sent a sample off for yeast exam and for bacterial exam. She took a sample and looked under her scope. When she came back she said that it wasn't yeast. She said my white cells were really low so that tells there is an infection. There were no clue cells to indicate bacterial vaginosolis or gardnerella. She said that it was s rod shaped bacteria that she hasn't seen before. I swear she said that there were little pure rods everywhere but I may have confused that with something I have read. She put me on 10 days of omnicef and set me up for a 1 week re-check and said I should feel better in about 2-3 days. A week has gone by and I am do for my recheck but I got my period so I can't go. I called and the nurse said that the one test came back as negative which was the bacteria test and the other one they could not do, whatever that means! Any ideas what this might be????? I have been tested for Std's and I'm all good! 10 months, numerous antifungals, and now antibiotics and no fix!!! I am generally healthy other than this, no diabetes, never hospitalized, 2 c-section births, iud removed in July (thought the iud was causing all this) ! I'm about ready to go insane! Tired, brain fog, tingling hands and arms while sleeping, anxiety, depression, itching, discharge.... It's been a real fun 10 months!
